The silence in the dorm room was almost unbearable. Michael sat at his desk, staring at the blank screen of his laptop. The accusation of plagiarism, a heavy weight on his shoulders, had left him paralyzed. He was barely able to lift a finger, to even think.

He swiveled around, a dull ache throbbing behind his eyes. The textbooks scattered across the floor, the empty coffee cups, the crumpled papers – all of it a testament to the weeks of relentless study. He’d sacrificed everything to get here, and now it all seemed to be crumbling.

He knew he should rewrite the paper, but his mind refused to cooperate. He felt a profound sense of inertia, a draining of all motivation. He slumped back in his chair, feeling like he was sinking into the depths.
